NEET is National Eligibility cum Entrance Test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET is formerly the All India Pre-Medical Test. It is an entrance examination for the students who wish to study medical courses in government and private colleges. In 2013, the Medical Council of India(MCI) introduced the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. But in 2013, after it was conducted the Supreme court of India put a stay on the exam in response to petitions received against the exam. The exam reappeared in the year of 2016. Before National Testing Agency the test was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE).
NEET has replaced AIPMT(All India Pre Medical Test) completely in the year 2017. Now NEET is the common medical entrance examination across the country. As per Government of India, it is mandatory to qualify NEET examination to study medical courses in India and abroad. Every year more than 5 lakh students appear in the NEET exam.
The applicant must be at least 17 years old to be eligible for the exam and the upper age limit is 25 years old. However, there is an age relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes.
Those applicants who have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and have 50% marks in their class 12 board exam are eligible for NEET exam. Candidates are required to submit the NEET application only through online. The application form fee for general candidates is Rs.1500/- and for OBC/SC/ST is Rs.800/-. The NEET exam is conducted in pen and paper mode.This exam is based on the syllabus prescribed by the NTA. There will be questions from physics, chemistry, biology subjects which carry a total of 720 marks. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
NEET(UG) is a nationwide test for MBBS and BDS courses and NEET(PG) is for postgraduate courses in medicine, surgery and dental. NEET exam is conducted in 11 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. These exams help students to write only one entrance exam for all colleges and it helps to save their time and reduce confusion.
NEET is mostly based on CBSE and ICSE syllabus which can affect the state syllabus students. Students who are preparing for medical courses in India or abroad are first concerned about the best coaching centers in their nearest places.
